Corporate tax returns (T2) are due six months after the end of your fiscal year. Any balance owing must be paid within two or three months after year-end, depending on your corporation type and income level.
You must register if your business earns over $30,000 in taxable revenue within any 12-month period, or if you provide taxable goods or services in Canada regardless of income level, particularly in industries where GST/HST registration is mandatory by default.
GST/HST payments are made annually, quarterly, or monthly depending on your sales. Businesses under $1.5 million usually file annually, $1.5–6 million quarterly, and over $6 million monthly. Payments are due one month after each period.
Instalments are based on your previous year’s tax payable or your current year’s expected amount, whichever is more accurate. CRA may send reminders, but it’s your responsibility to calculate and remit on time.
